LICENSING & ICON COPYRIGHT

Last updated: March 2026

Viconic.io.vn is an aggregator platform and content delivery system via Smart CDN. Our database contains over 200,000+ icons collected from Iconify, SVGRepo, and other open-source projects.

Below is the most detailed legal analysis of the 19 license types existing on our system. By copying code (JSX/SVG) from Viconic into your project, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and committed to strictly comply with the terms below.

PART 1: DISCLAIMER FROM VICONIC

No Copyright Ownership:

Viconic DOES NOT create and DOES NOT own the copyright of any icon. We only provide the "Search Tool" and "Source Code Distribution Infrastructure".

License Fluctuations:

Original authors have the right to change their licenses at any time. Viconic tries to synchronize data as accurately as possible, but we DO NOT guarantee absolute legal validity of the displayed information.

End-User Responsibility:

If you integrate an icon from Viconic into a commercial project (sold to Clients, companies, or paid apps), you are 100% legally responsible. You are required to personally access the original repository (GitHub/Author's Website) to verify the license before production deployment. Viconic is fully indemnified from any lawsuits, copyright disputes, or claims arising from your side.

PART 2: DETAILED ANALYSIS OF 19 LICENSE TYPES

To protect you from legal issues, we have categorized 19 licenses into 6 behavioral groups from "Complete Freedom" to "Commercial Forbidden Zones."

Group 1: HUMAN ASSETS (PUBLIC DOMAIN)

Includes: CC0, CC0 1.0, Unlicense.

  • Nature: The author has completely waived all intellectual property rights to these icons.
  • Your Rights: You have the right to do anything. You can copy, modify, repackage, sell them, or use them in any commercial project.
  • Obligations: NONE. You do not need permission or attribution.

Group 2: PERMISSIVE LICENSES

Includes: MIT, ISC, Apache 2.0, BSD 3-Clause.

  • Nature: This is the foundation of the open-source software world. Extremely safe for all corporate and personal projects.
  • Your Rights: Free to use, modify, and integrate into profitable commercial products.
  • Obligations: If you use these icons to create other open-source software or redistribute them as a new library, you MUST keep the original author's Copyright Notice.
  • Special Note on Apache 2.0: This license has an additional clause protecting you from being sued by the author over patents related to that design.

Group 3: FONT-SPECIFIC LICENSES

Includes: Open Font License (Abbreviation: SIL OFL 1.1).

  • Nature: Specifically for icon sets designed based on Font architecture (such as FontAwesome, Remix Icon).
  • Your Rights: Free to use in printing projects, UI/UX design, commercial websites, and mobile apps.
  • Obligations & Prohibitions: You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT take the SVG/Font files themselves and sell them as a standalone product. If you sell software containing these icons, you must ensure the OFL license file is included in the source code.

Group 4: ATTRIBUTION REQUIRED

Includes: CC BY 3.0, CC BY 4.0.

  • Nature: The author allows you to monetize their work, but they demand recognition (Credit).
  • Your Rights: Permitted for commercial use, sharing, and remixing original designs.
  • Legal Obligations: You MUST attribute the author. Depending on the project, you must provide the author's name, a link to the CC BY license, and indicate if you modified the icon. (Example: Place an "Icons by [Name]" line in the Website Footer or in the "About/Credits" screen of a Mobile App).

Group 5: "VIRAL" LICENSES (COPYLEFT / SHAREALIKE)

Includes: All, GPL, GPL 2.0, GPL 3.0, CC BY SA, CC BY-SA 4.0, Mozilla Public License 2.0 (Weak copyleft).

  • Nature: This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS license group for proprietary software companies. Their philosophy is: "I let you use it for free, but if you create something new from my stuff, you must also share it for free."
  • Your Rights: Still permitted for commercial use.
  • Viral Effect Risk: If you take these icons, modify them, and combine them into your source code to create a new UI Kit or a derivative work, your entire new product MUST be open-sourced under the same license (GPL or CC BY-SA).
  • Viconic Recommendation: Avoid using icons in this group if your company project requires absolute source code confidentiality.

Group 6: COMMERCIAL FORBIDDEN ZONE (NON-COMMERCIAL)

Includes: CC BY-NC 4.0, CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.

  • Nature: This group of icons is reserved for students, academic projects, charities, or personal trial purposes.
  • Absolute Prohibition: You ARE NOT ALLOWED to integrate these icons into any project for direct or indirect profit. This includes: Company websites, Apps containing ads, Products made for clients (Client), or Sales websites.
  • Viral Obligations (applies to NC-SA): If you use it for a non-commercial project and modify it, that project must also be shared under an equivalent non-commercial license.

PART 3: TRADEMARKS & LOGOS WARNING

Our icon library contains many logos of large corporations (e.g., Google, Facebook, Apple, GitHub, AWS...). Although the SVG code to draw those logos may be licensed as CC0 or MIT, the logo design itself is strictly protected by the Trademark laws of those corporations.

Allowed:

Use logo to represent links (Example: "Sign in with GitHub" or "Follow us on Facebook" buttons).

Prohibited:

You are not allowed to use their logos as logos for your own apps, or arrange them in a way that misleadingly suggests that your project is sponsored, certified, or partnered with these corporations.

BY USING VICONIC, YOU ACCEPT THAT ANY CONSEQUENCES OF LICENSE VIOLATION ARE YOUR OWN BINDING LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY.
